We are delighted to report that our valued client The Harwood Arms in Fulham, London, has been voted the nations No1 Gastropub for 2020 by Estrella Damm. Over 400 gastropub owners, food critics and industry experts came to this decision which is brilliant news.

So you think you're having a rough day.

My business partner John Davey sent me this picture which he captured at the recent ‘Cleaner Products Open’ golf tournament at ‘The RAC Woodcote Park’ course in Epsom, Surrey. It was on a long par 5 and I managed to land my 3rd shot on this lovely mound. You can’t see the ball in the picture but it was deep in the rough, to my amazement I managed to get down on the back of the ball and pitched it about five foot from the pin, I then proceeded to make the putt which save my par. The moral of the story is ‘when you think your having a rough day, be positive, things may turn around’

Brexit and Cleaner Products

There is a great deal of talk and articles being published related to a no deal Brexit with scaremongers forecasting a £5.4bn reduction in the UK eating out market. In a recent forecast by MCA Insights using ‘synthetic control method’ whereby statistical techniques which uses ‘machine learning algorithms’ to complete the data, but will these figures come to fruition. Well, it is true that a ‘no deal’ Brexit will have implications with consumers taking precautionary measures due to the uncertain economy, but let’s not jump the gun.

Julie's choose Cleaner Products

Neighbourhood restaurant Julie's is relaunching after being closed for five years. For half a century Julie's has been one of the loveliest spots in this corner of West London but in September 2019 the romantic restaurant reopens after an extensive refurbishment and with a new chef-patron, Shay Cooper. Not only was Shay executive chef at The Goring for five years but he also held a Michelin star at his last two posts. Julie Hodgess, the interior designer who first opened the restaurant in 1969, has been brought in to re-design the interiors.

Three Cheers to Galvin Brothers

The Galvin Brothers are super-proud to have won their 4th Catey award this week for their Galvin Green Man restaurant. The management team at Cleaner Products congratulate the Galvin Brothers for their superb achievement and Chris Galvin commented “ there were only 22 awards given in the whole of Great Britain and we were one of the winners! We are all very proud of our team for this achievement.

Well done team Galvin.

We would like to welcome Which Wich on board, the president of Which Wich Ric Scicchitano has launched the brand in the UK and offers sandwiches like you’ve never seen before, using the finest ingredients from around London Which Wich has set a new standard for quality. Our Managing Director David Garrard who was a chef for many years stopped of at Which Wich for a bite to eat and was taken back by the quality of product and suggested we partnered them in London, so we have and now Which Wich is our official top-up point for our London development team.

The Crown Inn, Keston, goes green.

The Crown Inn, Keston, are another one of our clients to adopt a more sustainable approach to their operations, the owners Kate Streets and Chris Miller are believers in environmentally friendly alternatives and during the Easter weekend they produced a very successful barbecue experience without adding to the deforestation problem the world is suffering, they used charcoal briquettes that are derived from coconut shells which are fully sustainable.
